Elliot's Birthday at the Red Sea (David)

We made it out of town for Elliot's birthday!   Off to the Ed Sea or Gulf of Suez.   About an hour and a half east if Cairo, there are several resorts on the beach.    Not town that we could see, just the resort and water.   Hired a driver, booked two nights and enjoyed the sun, sand, pool.  The morning of the birthday, a cake was delivered compliments of the resort.   I asked the night before and they said that they deliver a small cake.  So, i arranged for it to be at breakfast at 830 (the only time I knew where we would be).  Well, the waiter asked about our pancake with chocolate syrup.  then the manager.   it was a funny experience.  Finally the cake showed up.   And some crows!  For Elliots birthday we all went snorkeling.   The first time for kids.   A couple of reefs are close by.   Saw coral and a variety of fish (angel of different colors, rainbows, and even a clownfish or two).  Pretty cool!  At home, we had sloppy joes and ice cream with Amy's famous chocolate sauce!  Happy birthday!

Outing #1 (David)

Had an outing yesterday.   Hired a driver, tour guide and off we went.   Great to get out and explore.   Visited Saqqara, the first pyramid built in Egypt.  Actually a series of slabs called the Step Pyramid.  Then to Dashar, the first full pyramid build with smooth side and pointed top.   Got to go into this one.  Down a long corridor and into burial tombs.   Saw the Bent Pyramid.  And then off to Memphis for a little museum.  Saw our first hieroglyphs.  Enjoy the photos!
